TALK: LIGHT, HUMAN AND SPACE IN LIGHTING DESIGN PROJECT IN VIETNAM

The process of visual perception is the interaction between people and space through the language of light. In this talk, Dr. Trần Văn Thành will introduce key elements of the interaction between people, space, and light, and share his experiences in lighting design for some projects in Vietnam.

The talk is a part of Tầm Tã Curating Practice Course organized by APD, open to the public who are interested in art organizing and want to learn about lighting design for art space in general and curatorial practice in particular.

* Dr. Trần Văn Thành is a keen researcher in lighting and architecture, a visiting lecturer, speaker, and postgraduate reader in several universities, conferences, and design competitions in Vietnam and the South East Asian. He is considered Vietnam’s pioneering professional lighting designer, founder and director of ASA Studios Lighting Design – the very first professional architectural lighting design studio in Vietnam. He received his PhD in Lighting & the Built Environment from The Cass School of Art & Design, London Metropolitan University (London, UK) and Master of Arts and Architectural Lighting in Germany.
