Within the framework of APD’s Contemporary Painting Research and Development Project, “BENT EATS BENT, STRAIGHT EATS STRAIGHT” represents the works by 8 artists: Lại Diệu Hà, Nguyễn Xuân Hoàng, Phạm Trần Việt Nam, Nguyễn Đoan Ninh, Trần Nhật Thăng, Đặng Quang Tiến, Trịnh Minh Tiến, Nguyễn Đình Hoàng Việt.

In this curatorial tour led by curator Trần Lương, participants will explore the insights of the artworks by observing and listening: the origin of ideas, concept, materials, techniques, style…; thereby better understand the interests, inspirations, processes of thinking, creating and personality of each artist, as well as partially acknowledge the diversity in practice and problematization of contemporary painting.

The Contemporary Painting Research and Development Project, initiated and implemented by APD, focuses on in-depth analysis, evaluation and dialogue in order to give scientific and objective evaluation and perspectives on the contemporary painting in Vietnam, thereby predicting movements and providing appropriate development directions for artists’ practice.
