For Phạm Trần Việt Nam, creating or painting is a natural and persistent expression of emotions, like breathing, stemming from internal struggles with family and society’s conflicts. 

Following “The Oration for Ten Types of Sentient Beings” in 2017, ‘MỚ’ marks the next step on Phạm Trần Việt Nam’s journey of continuous experimentation with techniques, materials, scales, delving further and developing new directions in order to break free from the confines of traditional thinking and painting methods. This is also the second solo exhibition curated by Trần Lương for Phạm Trần Việt Nam, representing the result of a long and deep collaboration involving 15 years of working together, partnering, and dialogues between the artist and curator.

As the exhibition is currently on view at APD,  “MỚ” exhibition tour alongside curator Trần Lương is an opportunity for art enthusiasts to explore the making process of the exhibition and the artworks. Sharing stories about his ideas and working methods will help audiences to understand the unique personality in the thinking and practice of painting, as well as the inner world full of subconscious memory in Phạm Trần Việt Nam’s “MỚ” realm.
