PART II: Surrealism – the denial of reality or the transcendence of new structured thinking?

"Surrealism is destructive, but it destroys only what it considers to be shackles limiting our vision."
Salvador Dali

Emerging in the early 20th century as a response of the artistic community to the upheavals of the post-war era and rapid industrialization, Surrealism is inspired by dreams and subconsciousness. It created a revolution which liberated human’s ideas, language and experience from the constrained boundaries and stereotypes of rationalism.

Following the theme Modern Art in the “Flowing/Chảy” talk series, the event creates opportunities for participants to explore Surrealism and its representative artists, including many unique and talented women artists of the 20th century.

The talk is led by Trần Lương and moderated by Dr. Nguyễn Đức Thành.

*The event is organized by APD Center for Art Patronage and Development, with the support from UPGen Vietnam.
